About Numbers in Greek
A reference for the numbers of Modern Greek, made for the people who teach them: Greek community school teachers, language teachers in English-medium schools, parents and adult learners.
What is here
How the numbers are built and spelled from one to ten through a hundred to a million; how they are pronounced; the numbers that change for gender; and the places numbers turn up in daily life, the clock, dates and ages and prices. For teachers, the printable page has a 1 to 100 chart and a worksheet generator with separate answer keys.
How it is made
Every Greek number on the site comes from one engine and is checked by a second program written separately; the sources and checking page gives the sources, the spelling decisions and the count. Grammar points are taken from the Triantafyllidis dictionary of Standard Modern Greek and the Holton, Mackridge, Philippaki-Warburton and Spyropoulos grammar, and each page names the sources it relies on.
Who publishes it
numbersingreek.com is published by Digital Signet, a UK company that runs reference sites, including the sister sites numbersinfrench.com and numbersinjapanese.com, which share the worksheet engine. It is not affiliated with the Greek Ministry of Education, the Centre for the Greek Language or any exam board. There is no advertising on the site; the privacy page lists what it measures.
The charts and worksheets are free to print and photocopy for classroom use.
